7 March 2005

Indian flexible packaging printer Positive Packaging, whose UK customers include Tesco, Tetley and United Biscuits, has inaugurated a US$15M, 9000sq m export-oriented factory unit at its Khopoli headquarters near Mumbai.

Over 500 guests, many senior representatives from the company's international customer base, attended an opening conducted by Cerutti president and chief executive officer Dr Giancarlo Cerutti.

Located close to Positive's existing plant, the export factory is equipped to undertake gravure printing, wet and dry lamination, hot melt coating, extrusion lamination, in-line cold seal and speciality coatings and pouch production. It also has its own three-layer blown PE lines. Positive simultaneously inaugurated a new R&D block.

Anil Sadhwani, business head, Positive Packaging Europe, says: "In the UK we recently supplied Tesco with Hot Deli bags for chicken and have also trialled a metallised recloseable leak-proof pouch for fish which can also be used to store it in the refrigerator."

Positive has a just-in-time warehousing facility at Eaglescliffe, Teesside and offers full sales and technical back-up coordinated through its London office in Baker Street.
