Positive in UK drive

5 May 2004

Positive Packaging, India's first flexible packaging printer to gain BRC/IoP accreditation, is ramping up its efforts to target UK brand owners and retailers from its recently opened Baker Street, London sales and technical support office.

Positive has also begun leasing sizeable UK warehouse space, enabling it to rapidly call off packaging stock for fast nationwide delivery.

Packaging manufacture for the Indian market remains key to its success but the company's growing export business [it has already supplied several UK customers, incuding supermarkets] has recently seen it begin building a single-storey export production factory extension at its Khopoli plant near Bombay. The 12 000m2 facility, due for completion later this year, will be equipped with two Cerutti multi-colour gravure presses, boosting flexible packaging capacity by around 50% to around 1500 tonnes/month and creating 150 jobs.

Blue chip customers of the company, which exports over 60% of its output, include Cussons, Unilever, P&G, Nestle, Tata Industries, Heinz, LoorZal, Bayer and Cadbury.
