Plastique's "six-figure" investment increases capacity

16 March 2006

Designer, developer and manufacturer of thermoformed packaging Plastique has increased capacity at its Nottingham manufacturing plant with a “six-figure” investment in a Kiefel automatic vacuum forming machine.

The machine complements the plant’s existing vacuum and pressure forming equipment from Illig and Irwin. Plastique says the KMV75 will further enhance the flexibility of its manufacturing activities within the UK and the rest of Europe.

The company, which also has a design and development facility at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, has also just opened a 3,000 sq m manufacturing site in Poznan, Poland, to be equipped with two new Irwin pressure forming / punch and die cutting lines, planned to be operational by the autumn. The site’s opening is part of Plastique’s “strategic plan” for expansion into Central Europe and will allow supply of packaging to the headquarters of a “world-leading” blue chip company in Poland.
