A major UK biscuit manufacturer has placed a “major order” for de-nesting and feeding/folding equipment from UK machinery distributor Partners in Packaging (Machine Systems).
While supplying an Alpha Two Tray Denester and a Streamfeeder Pro, PiP will work in conjunction with automation and robotic systems specialists Quasar Automation, who will project manage the contract, and wrapping machinery specialist Ilapak, who will supply the flow-wrap technology.
According to Rochdale-based PiP, the deal was concluded “within five minutes of the doors opening” at this year’s Total Processing & Packaging exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, 4-6 June 2013.
PiP managing director Duncan Macintyre comments: “We’re delighted to partner with these leading suppliers to the food packing and processing industries.
“It just goes to show that while lead times on exhibitions can sometimes be longer, there are still plenty of opportunities for the taking.”
Quasar MD Bob Hinchcliffe confirms that his company will be integrating four Staubli TP80 high speed picking robots into a packaging line.
“As first time exhibitors, we couldn’t have asked for more out of the show,” Hinchcliffe says.
The Alpha Tray Denester being supplied by Partners in Packaging comes in fully adjustable 1, 2 or 3 magazine versions, constructed as standard in stainless steel for complete wash-down capability, and offered with either servo motor or pneumatic drive options.
“Streamfeeder is recognised as one of the world’s leading friction feed manufacturers,” the company says, “with over 1,500 machines installed in the UK, in particular in most of the leading plant bakeries.”
