PIFA honours Pugh

27 May 2005

PIFA (the Packaging and Industrial Films Association) has honoured two of its recently retired stalwarts in a special presentation at its 32nd Annual Luncheon at London's Savoy.

Jim Pugh, a former PIFA chairman before he served for 15 years as the ceo, received the unique, unprecedented award of Honorary Lifetime President in recognition of his "outstanding and continuous contribution", while Dick Searle, former PIFA chairman and board member, gained a Lifetime Honorary Membership for his commitment to the Association's work until he retired from the Britton Group last year.

PIFA chairman Steve Griffin said the Association owed Pugh "an enormous debt of gratitude for working unstintingly for our cause throughout a time when our embattled industry has undergone the most dramatic pressures". He said Searle had "directed his undoubted passion and irresistible persuasive powers to call to account those whose interests could otherwise have caused us so much damage".
