The Leeds, UK-based arm of a group which claims to “span the globe” can now offer a customised packaging line for single or double rigid coffee capsules. This comprises an automatic carousel loader, a Falcon or Mistral horizontal packaging machine and a rotary printer, all in a system PFM says ensures high production rates and operational simplicity.
Capsules arriving from the filling and assembly line are directed onto a flex-link belt before loading onto an accumulation belt. The machine feeding carousel then picks up a capsule and positions it to the front of the automatic carousel loader. The capsule is then wrapped in a pillow pack with lengthways and crossways seals before the flow-wrapped packs are counted and conveyed towards manual or automatic cartoning lines.
Production rates are up to 270-280 capsules/mins for individual capsules and 135-140 for doubles.
