Petainer changes hands

13 November 2009

Petainer UK Holdings has been acquired from Rexam by Next Wave Ventures, WHEB Ventures and senior management in a £16 million deal. The acquisition will allow Petainer, said to be the market leader in Germany for reusable PET bottles and in the Nordic region for PET beverage containers, to expand into other growth markets, including other beverage sectors that are beginning to replace their current packaging with PET and geographically into Central and Eastern Europe.

Headquartered in Lidköping Sweden, with a second plant in Aš, Czech Republic, and a sales office in Germany, Petainer manufactures PET bottles, preforms] and kegs to a number of global drinks companies. The company is now wholly owned by Next Wave, a growth capital investor, WHEB, a clean technology venture capital firm, and a combination of the current management team led by managing director Per-Olof Wallin and Nigel Pritchard, group CEO, and Brian Woods, group COO.
