In the run-up to the UK General Election, the Confederation of Paper Industries and the Sheet Plant Association are campaigning on behalf of the corrugated packaging industry to get Members of Parliament behind a push for a manufacturing revival.
The campaign organisers want the policy-makers to create more advantageous conditions for investment to help the corrugated industry to thrive.
To get the message across, a mailer made from corrugated board will drop onto MPs’ desks during March and advertisements will appear in a weekly publication circulated to MPs and Peers called House Magazine.
The mailing will be repeated after the election aiming ‘to ensure everyone in the new parliament has seen it’.
“The corrugated packaging industry is a particularly good barometer of the pressure that manufacturing is under and we are pleased to stand alongside the Sheet Plant Association on this issue. It is necessary for everyone involved in manufacturing to keep up a sustained lobby to encourage more manufacturing in the UK, ” said Andy Barnetson, corrugated sector manager of CPI.
A document titled Manifesto for Manufacturing is posted on the CPI website with further details.
