One-pass scratch-off ink launched

29 May 2005

Label Express has launched a gold scratch-off ink, thought to be the first of its kind, for on-pack promotions, lotteries, competitions and interactive mailing.

The company says that, following recent investment in the latest rotary screen integration technology, it can deposit up to 300 microns of ink or varnish in one pass.

Sales manager David Beeby explains: "Scratch-off promotions require a substantial ink coverage to guarantee an opaque finish. We have developed an effective UV-curable gold scratch-off with our ink supplier, giving our clients the opportunity of adding a new, distinctive feature to their products."

Applied in line and in combination with other print processes, the system allows a wide range of multi-coloured labels and cards to be produced with integral scratch panels.
