"On the go" innovation

10 September 2005

RPC Bebo Plastik - in co-operation with German meat manufacturers Cuxfleisch Busse and Halberstädter Würstchen & Konservenfabrik - has designed an innovative microwaveable tray for Currywurst, featuring a fork compartment built into the pack's base, to meet the increasing popularity for "on the go" eating.

The tray's unusual design features a secondary, inverted compartment inside the main section. Accessed from the underside, it allows a fork and a curry powder sachet to be stored without affecting overall on-shelf appearance.

The compartment is sealed with an adhesive label with an opening tab, allowing consumers to remove the fork and sachet before placing the tray in the microwave.

The thermoformed PP tray is sealed with a colour printed film sheet for maximum product freshness and on-shelf appeal in the chill cabinet.
