Omet installs first offset sleeve XFlex X6 press

21 January 2013

A 10-colour XFlex X6 430 with 5 offset (sleeve) groups, 5 UV Flexo units, cold foil, rotary die-cutting and Vision-1 automatic register system is said to be the first press by Omet equipped with the new offset group with sleeves.

Masterpress - an international player in the printing of labels and flexible packaging made of self-adhesive materials, flexible films, laminates and solid board for numerous major consumer goods brand owners - now has five machines from Omet, and intends to use its latest installation to print mainly refined shrink sleeve and In-Mould Labels for the food sector.

"We are proud to have our first press equipped with sleeve offset at such an important customer," says Omet sales and marketing director Marco Calcagni.

The choice, he says, was strategic for both: "Masterpress was looking for one in-line offset press with characteristics of high speed, excellent quality results and ease of management, while we were looking for the right customer who could fully exploit the machine's potential."

Masterpress is said to have already placed an order for a second machine in a wider, 670mm width.

Following the XFlex X6 presses, Omet says offset (sleeve) will also be available on the whole range of multi-process and platform presses up to 850mm on Varyflex V2 machines for flexible packaging printing.

At the Labelexpo Americas show in September 2012, Omet launched a wider 20-inch (530mm) version of its XFlex X6 press targeting both label and package printing applications.
