Oil in a box takes to the road

28 April 2011

Rapak and DS Smith Packaging Rawcliffe’s oil in a box technology is being used for engine oils by Millers Oils.

Premium and workshop products are packaged in a 15 litre oil-in-box format, said to mark a first for an oil storage and application in the UK aftermarket.

The new pack, which has handles, involved three DS Smith divisions: the bag is from bag-in-box specialist Rapak, the tap is from injection moulded dispenser unit Worldwide Dispensers, and the paperboard box from DS Smith Packaging Rawcliffe.

With a tamper proof, twin walled, sealed bag placed in a Millers Oils-branded box, it is said to be easier to handle, stack and transport. It also designed to ensure safe dispensing with no glugging, and minimal spillage and product waste.

Millers Oils says it a ‘more sustainable pack’ that avoids expensive packaging waste disposal.
