Now you see it, now you don't

Digital press manufacturer HP Indigo has launched the first invisible ink for its Indigo line of digital presses.

Designed to combat fraud and provide brand protection, the ink is aimed at the FMCG market, pharmaceuticals and luxury goods. Based on HP's Electroink technology, the invisible ink can be used on a variety of substrates. It can only be seen under an ultraviolet lamp where it fluoresces to a bright red.

The security ink can be printed on HP Indigo 1000, s2000 and ws2000 presses. With six ink slots, the invisible inks can be introduced in the middle of a print run.

"Through short-run, on demand printing, security inks are easier and more cost-effective to implement than ever before," said Rafi Maor, HP vice president and general manager Indigo Division.
