Novelis Evercan aluminium sheet gets first roll-out with Red Hare craft beers

16 April 2014

Novelis has confirmed the first commercial use of its new Evercan high-recycled content aluminium sheet for beverage cans, which will be used by the Red Hare Brewing Company for its craft beer in the USA.

Packaged in cans made from a guaranteed minimum 90% recycled content, the new beer containers are due on store shelves in key markets throughout the southeastern US beginning in May 2014.

"This introduction marks the commercial availability of the world's first certified high-recycled content aluminium beverage can," says Phil Martens, president and CEO for Novelis.

"Working with Red Hare, we have developed a proven supply chain to deliver this industry-first offering to consumers, setting an example that other beverage companies are sure to follow."

Red Hare Brewing Company founder and CEO Roger Davis says Novelis Evercan is a “perfect fit” for Red Hare craft beers: "The independent certification of the closed-loop recycling process behind Evercan strengthens our commitment to employing the best in sustainable business practices, making Evercan a natural extension of the Red Hare brand,” he says.

Evercan is now available to beverage companies globally, with Novelis company facilities in North America, Europe, South America and Asia now certified for its production by leading third-party environmental auditing company SCS Global Services.
