The "unique" double tube packs, which allow children to eat direct from the container, are the result of extensive market research and several months' subsequent development work by Müller, Alcan Packaging and machinery supplier Hassia.
The packs comprise a two-ply laminate structure of 12 micron polyester and 50 micron PE. The polyester is reverse printed gravure and perforated in precise areas before being laminated to the PE so these areas become "easy open".
Best Before dates are encoded when the packs are filled using Sherwood Technologies' DataLase non-contact alternative to traditional printing methods in which ink undergoes a chemical colour change.
