The Select Series was first introduced by US-headquartered Nomacorc with the Select 700 line in 2011, and the full launch was completed in January 2012.
The recipient of the company's landmark closure was the Robert König winery in Germany's Rheingau region - the premium producer used it to seal a bottle of its 2011 Frankenthal Spätlese wine.

The Nomacorc Select Series was tailored specifically to meet the requirements of artisan winemakers and their premium wines, and was developed based on the results of the company's oxygen management research and experience working with winemakers around the world.
The Select Series offers four product options, each consisting of different oxygen ingress rates, which are each designed to provide optimum wine preservation and development.
Wine producer Robert König said: "When we understand how it works with our wines in the long run, we look forward to deepening our relations with Nomacorc in the future."
Nomacorc produces nearly 2.4 billion closures annually and lays claim to about 13% of the still wine closure market.
The company is the second largest closure manufacturer in the world, manufacturing its portfolio of products using a patented co-extrusion process.
