New sorbent dispenser

15 December 2008

At Emballage, Multisorb Technologies launched the APA-4000 sorbent dispenser, used for a range of food and healthcare product packaging. Featuring two servo-driven dispensing heads mounted on a single chassis, it is claimed to achieve speeds up to 600 packages per minute. Left and right infeeds from two separate spool splicing station cabinets ensure constant product flow.

The APA-4000 can be used to dispense sorbents into such packages as HDPE bottles for pharmaceuticals, medical device packets, in-vitro diagnostic pouches, and food product packaging. It can be customised to work with different sorbent packet types, packaging formats, and drop configurations. For dispensing and insertion of oxygen-absorbing formulations, it is available with a nitrogen-purged spool supply chamber incorporating nitrogen flow control, oxygen level monitoring, and alarming to preserve and protect the packets so that oxygen absorption capacity is delivered at the point of insertion into the package.
