New packs from old

Bell Packaging is offering ‘totally transparent packaging’ made out of post consumer plastics waste.

Used drinks bottles and food containers provide the raw material for Retran, an extension to Bell’s Jetran stable.

According to Bell, Retran has the strength and creasing credentials that meet and can exceed the PVC and PET Jetran standards, and further trials have shown that Retran can also be printed using processes including foil, rotogravure, litho and flexo.

It adds that when used with the Jetlok design of closure, Retran does not compromise the closure’s performance.

“We hope that Retran is selected by UK and European companies, giving them the opportunity to have an excellent environmental solution that can be recycled and used again where facilities exist,” said Ian Bennett, Commercial Director for Bell.

Bell says ‘huge interest’ is coming from high street stores, pharmaceutical companies and DIY outlets.
