Mushrooms switch from bags to jars

16 January 2006

Polish dried mushroom producer Jampol has switched from PE bags, which had poor barrier, and limited protective, properties, to PET jars from RPC Containers for its dried mushrooms, which are proving a big seller both at home and abroad.

Having recently invested in a modern "protective atmosphere" packaging line, Jampol required a more durable container format with good barrier properties that would complement the improved shelf-life achievable on the new line and provide better product protection.

RPC's PET injection-moulded jar is sufficiently rigid to keep the product safe, while the recloseable lid, from RPC Halstead, has an induction seal liner for a hermetic seal.

The lid's wide labelling area allows eye-catching decoration without obscuring the contents, which are highly visible thanks to the jar's "excellent contact clarity".
