The line had previously been used mainly to fill 33cl PET bottles, but has been specially adapted to cater for the "Origine" launch.
Landor Associates' Paris office designed the monolithic, ice-like container, reminiscent of mountains, which has gone on sale this year in over 100 countries worldwide.
The brief for the limited edition container, produced by Saint Gobain Emballages, required Landor to design a bottle which would simultaneously represent Evian's key brand values – such as purity – yet also be considered "breakaway". Landor Paris won the paid creative pitch thanks to the strength of its structural design team and its firm recommendation to focus on the brand icon – the mountains as the origin of the water – in conjunction with minimalist design. The thick glass container, with its irregular angles, features a contrasting festive red tinted plastic cap from Verchère Plastiques, and no-label look labels from Pago, applied on a Sacmi machine
The bottle's introduction before Christmas followed the success of Evian's special edition drop-shaped bottle, "the Drop", launched in 2000 to celebrate the new millennium.
