Mini-can is deposit-free

19 April 2004

Ball Packaging Europe's latest 100% recyclable steel beverage can for the German ready-to-drink coffee market is not subject to the one-way deposit scheme because non-carbonated iced drink cans are exempt.

The first user of the 25cl can is German company Munsterland, which has launched its Eis-cafe chilled coffee and Eis-choc chocolate/milk mix drinks domestically in a slimline mini-container - its first ever use of a beverage can.

The can has a new base coat with a high concentration of reflecting pigments to give a brighter, more brilliant appearance.

Eis-cafe and Eis-choc will principally be targeted at younger, trend-conscious consumers who have fuelled sales of ready-to-drink coffee.
