Metal detection on show

4 April 2008

During Interpack 2008 (April 24-30), Lock Inspection Systems will showcase its recently launched Met 30+ Universal range of metal detectors, including a pharmaceutical version.

The new Met 30+ hf is said to achieve up to 30 per cent greater sensitivity than its predecessor. Incorporating a single high frequency, crystal controlled oscillator, it is designed primarily for snack foods and bakery applications. The detector can be used to inspect dry foods such as biscuits or crisps at 875Khz - three times greater than standard food industry detectors, claims Lock.

The Met 30+ Universal 3f is said to be the world's first fully automatic triple frequency detector, capable of highly accurate inspection of both polyfilm and metallized packaged products. Operating at three crystal controlled frequencies - high, medium and low, it incorporates an integral automatic frequency selection facility, regardless of the product or packaging.

When inspecting poly-wrapped products, the detector will automatically select high frequency, whereas it will operate at low frequency for a product packaged in metallized film. The PLC can retain settings for up to 100 products.
