Mauser launches Infinity recycled plastic drums in Europe

6 March 2014

Mauser Group has launched the Infinity Series of UN-approved plastic drums, produced from recycled post-consumer resin (PCR).

Designed as environmentally favourable packaging for the transportation of hazardous goods, the new Infinity Series is made from the highest quality plastic recycling material generated from used industrial packaging, at Mauser’s recently inaugurated recycling centre in Erkelenz, Germany.

According to the leading industrial packaging company, the Infinity Series will cover the open top drum design O-Top from 30-litre up to 220-litre capacity, and the 220-litre capacity tight head drum L-Ring PLUS.

“Our Infinity plastic tight head drum is coming with a UN certification for hazardous liquids classified Packing Group II,” says Michael Schieck, regulatory affairs, Europe, at Mauser Group.

“The drums and the materials used to produce our new Infinity Series fully comply with the requirements lined out in DIN EN ISO 16103:2005 on ‘Transport packaging for dangerous goods – Recycled plastics material’.”

While Infinity Series plastic drums have been available on the American market for some time, their introduction to the European market is the latest major initiative of Mauser Group as a part of its comprehensive Eco-Cycle sustainability initiative, which is focusing on products and services for its clients.

In a first phase, Mauser’s regional focus will be on the Benelux, German and Italian markets, but Axel Schaefer, head of product group management, Europe, says the company is “open and flexible on any project beyond these initial target markets”.

“The drums of our Infinity Series come in standardized dimensions similar to our packaging manufactured from virgin plastic,” Schaefer says.

“This makes it easy for customers to transition to the Infinity Series with little to no changes to their operations.”
