Maillis in fast lane

6 May 2004

Nissan Motors' Sunderland car plant, producer of the new Nissan Micra, has installed a fully automatic MJ Maillis vertical strapping system to apply strapping to bulk-packed cartons and boxes returned to component suppliers for re-use.

Nissan needed an automatic strapper that would secure flatpack and box configurations, while minimising manual labour.

The selected machine is a robust Sander VM9440L. Installed as part of a complete turnkey project, the fully automated system will accept a maximum 1600x1400mm maximum pallet size, features an integral powered accumulation roller conveyor, and Maillis' friction-joint seal technology, with the strapping sealed along the sides after application. Maximum throughput is 45 pallets/hr.
