Magic coding

21 October 2003

Overprint Packaging has launched its latest generation Merlin coder, the Merlin 3. Said to be "extremely realistically-priced", it is a compact rotary hot ink coder suitable for mounting onto any high or low speed continuous wrapping machine or bag maker.

The unit is driven by a high-speed stepper motor via an encoder to provide "smooth running and high perormance" with speeds up to 300 prints/min and a maximum line speed of 35 metres/min. A membrane touchpad controller handles the adjustments for temperature and signal delay.

Each coder is supplied with its own mounting frame, which the company says can be easily adapted to to fit any make of wrapping machine.
