M-Real upgrades Avanta boards

14 April 2007

M-real has upgraded its high performance virgin fibre paperboards Avanta Ultra and Avanta Prima to give better printability and a higher yield from the fully coated folding boxboards.

Foiling capabilities on Avanta Ultra have been improved as a result of higher visual smoothness, and brightness has increased from 89% to 90% ISO brightness, which M-Real says provides better colour contrast, a wider colour range and quicker colour matching.

A spokesman says: “Both Ultra and Prima have been light-weighted by 2-4%, but without loss of thickness and stiffness. The moisture content has increased, enhancing the boards' cutting and creasing properties.”

Avanta grades are designed for high end uses, such as beautycare packaging, while Prima is also aimed at healthcare applications.
