LPF lidding performs for Heinz

17 December 2010

LPF Flexible Packaging says the quality and peel performance of its high barrier lidding for the Heinz Beanz Fridge Pack are meeting the needs of the household brand.

LPF, part of the Clondalkin Group Flexible Packaging Division, created an 80mm high barrier, reel-fed lid made from a transparent three-layer structure with glass coated polyester, nylon and special high-performance sealable and peelable cast polypropylene, created by its sister company, Wentus in Germany.

The alternative to induction sealing was chosen because it offers tamper evidence, an ‘excellent’ oxygen barrier, longer shelf-life of up to 15 months, and is retortable up to 131degC.

It also ensures that the product does not leak and is easy to peel for the consumer.

Ron Harland, Sales Manager at LPF Flexible Packaging, says: “At present, our transparent high-performance lidding runs on over 120 packaging lines and is widely used on plastic cups and trays for a range of everyday food products.”
