Lighter paint can wins over Fired Earth

20 May 2010

UK brand Fired Earth is using the lighter weight, 2.5 litre Impress Ringo paint can for its National Trust range of emulsion paints.

The Ringo is said to contain 10% less metal than a traditional paint can.

To justify its choice, Fired Earth noted Ringo’s easy-open, easy-close qualities, its design which made it easier to pour paint into a roller tray, and the saving on packaging content, which shows the company is serious about ‘social responsibility’.

Ian Hemingway, Impress UK account manager calls the Ringo can ‘the natural evolution for paint packaging’. He remarks that the Coca-Cola can has adapted to the dynamics of the changing market, ‘and the time is right for us to adopt the same approach with paint cans’.
