Labelsco breakthrough

Prototypes that look ‘exactly’ like the final product are giving labels manufacturer Labelsco the edge internationally, says the company.

Starproof software makes it possible to meet demand from global clients for first proofs of designs, including complex metallic sachets, to closely resemble the final product.

“Labelsco clients can be certain that the first example will look exactly the same as the final thousands,” said Steph Warner, Studio Sales Manager, at Labelsco. “Starproof accurately positions the dots on press, giving a much more accurate representation of the finished label, especially on areas such as skin tones.”

Labelsco produces labels for pharmaceutical packs and bottles, cheeses, DIY sealants, and horticultural sprays, for Reckitt Benkiser, Boots, Glaxo Smith Kline, Heinz and Cadbury.

Starproof is used to drive a large format Epson printer, capable of producing proofs of final products, which could be printed using UV flexo, rotary screen and foil blocking. The proofs are put on prototype packaging, often involving complex and innovative shapes - even replicating the pressure required to open lids, screw tops, or peel-back covers, it is claimed.

Since the introduction of Starproof, the company says it has seen its turnover in new business increase by 30%.
