According to J&J, decorating tubes via screen printing or offset litho – "perhaps enhanced by foil blocking" – has long been an integral element in volume production tube manufacture, but recent customer feedback has convinced it demand exists for an alternative method of decorating smaller quantities "of perhaps 25,000 units", "typically to differentiate a family of products or test market alternative designs".

Kaufmann & Sohn has developed an integrated label application system available either as an additional option or on-line during PE tube manufacture whereby tubes can be fitted with full-colour labels printed to precise colour register, and incorporating photographic images.
