Kallfass machine offers best of both worlds

15 January 2007

Germany's Kallfass will show at the Pro Sweets exhibition in Cologne later this month (on stand E 019, level 1, hall 10) a new automatic side seal film packaging machine it says combines the advantages of intermittent and continuous motion shrinkfilm systems.

Able to run at up to 120 packs/min, the “hybrid” Universa 500 features a continuous motion transverse seal bar, Siemens “smart control” system and servos incorporated into all key drives. The result, Kalfass says, is a very smooth, steady product transport, combined with minimal shingling (slippage) of stacked items like chocolate bars and biscuits packs.

The machine will pack a wide range of goods, ranging form confectionery items to pharmaceuticals. “Distortion-free” film advance ensures “geometrically exact” film bags for optimal results.
