Ishida seals oriental cuisine

29 May 2005

Oriental restaurant and food processor Orient Plaza is using an Ishida QX775 traysealer to help attractively present its authentic oriental ready meals. The QX775 "Inside Cut" traysealing system, featuring precision tooling, can seal up to 100 packs/min in single lane configuration.

Ishida says its "Inside Cut" traysealing system reduces film consumption by 5% and produces packs in which sealing film is precision cut. This improved pack appearance attracted Orient Plaza of Wijchen in the Netherlands, which supplies many supermarkets. The company typically has over 100 different products to pack and, after studying its existing packaging arrangements, Ishida designed six custom-made tool sets.

The trays are moved, typically in groups of four, to the QX775's infeed section, where gripper arms position them within the sealer tool and withdraw. The lower tool rises, lifting the packs to meet the film and the upper, heated tool, which presses down, firmly sealing the trays. It then moves down to its original position, and the packs are placed on the outfeed conveyor by the gripper arms.
