IPI-VDD symposium to address advanced sealing issues

4 March 2013

The first day of the symposium will focus on sealing methods such as heat sealing, ultrasonic sealing, laser sealing and methods of monitoring seal quality, as well as the relevance and areas of application of those methods in the industry.

The second day’s programme will feature mainly the sealing principle, sealing materials and their resultant challenges, along with peel systems and solutions, sealants and packaging materials adapted for performance application.

“The sealing process is one of the most important steps of the production of a package for a food or pharmaceutical product,” IPI states.

“A good seal is fundamental for an integrally closed package which enables a longer shelf life and assures the quality of the packaged good.”

The IPI event is targeted at employees of companies packaging food, pharmaceuticals or commodities – R&D, quality management and production – as well as project managers from machine manufacturers, or R&D and application engineers from suppliers of packaging materials.

Registration for the event is open until 27 March.

IPI International Packaging Institute was founded by major packaging industry firms Amcor, Bosch, Nestlé, SIG and Unilever, as an education, networking and service centre for the packaging industry.
