IOP ceo resigns for "core"role

1 September 2004

The announcement came on August 9 in a statement from IOP chairman of trustees John Bence. "This opportunity was unexpected," said Purser, "but builds on my experiences both here at the Institute and elsewhere. Of course I shall be sad to leave the IOP because it is poised to achieve so much and the team is dedicated and hard-working."

The statement added that Lynda Purser had been appointed as IOP interim CEO last year "to develop the Institute and move it on". It continued: "The Institute has achieved a great deal during this time and is well placed to move forward its membership, education and development and qualifications activities."

Gordon Stewart, IOP head of development services, has taken responsibility for all Institute activities as general manager with immediate effect. Stewart says the Institute's trustees will determine whether and when to appoint another full-time ceo by year end.
