A high barrier, compostable film by Innovia was selected as a key ingredient by Dutch company Amigos International to wrap its new dark, Fair Trade, organic chocolate called Ananda.
“We appreciated not only the ecological aspects of the ingredients, but also looked at packaging to complement this, which led us to Innovia Films and NatureFlex,” stated Amigos International’s owner, Jeroen Kruft.
NatureFlex NK is said to offer a moisture barrier approaching that of co-extruded OPP, thanks to Innovia Films’ coating technology, and able to increase shelf life.
Packaging Knowhow advised Amigos on its choice of film. Hapece Flexible Packaging, a specialist in small runs, converted and printed the NatureFlex NK for Amigos.
NatureFlex is proven to have inherent deadfold and anti-static properties, high gloss and transparency, resistance to grease and oil, good barrier to gases and aromas, print receptive surface and wide heat-seal range.
The films are certified to European EN13432 and American ASTM D6400 standards for compostable packaging.
