Indian glass from J&J

10 February 2005

Johnsen & Jorgensen has signed an agreement to sell pharmaceutical jars and vials from Gujarat Glass - one of the world's largest glass container manufacturers - in the UK.

The US$60m turnover Indian company operates 27 modern, high-speed manufacturing lines producing 7m bottles and vials a day at plants in Jambusar and Kosamba. The IS0 9001 quality assurance and ISO 14001 environmental standard-certified facilities are powered by their own natural gas energy plants.

J&J sales director Jon Wear, who announced the agreement after visiting the facilities, adds: "No one could fail to be impressed by Gujarat Glass's CAD/CAM systems, and their mould workshops include CNC machines.

"The company's triple and quadruple gob blow production systems, in combination with camera-detection fault-on-line systems, deliver mass-volume output at high speed while maintaining rigorous quality standards."
