Incpen Green Apple Awards still open

31 May 2012

Until the June 30 deadline, Incpen – the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment – is welcoming entries to the 2012 Green Apple Awards, which recognise “packaging that improves the sustainability of the product supply chain”.

The awards are “open to anyone who is helping the environment”, and the first entry is free for any company or individual involved in any aspect of, or activities in the packaging industries.

Winners of the Green Apple Award are automatically considered to represent their country in the prestigious Brussels-led European Business Awards for the Environment.

Categories for entry include: Improved protection; Extended storage life for food; Innovation; Reduced use of resources; Waste reduction; Cost reduction; and Helping consumers reduce their environmental impact. Gold, Silver and Bronze categories will be awarded in each category and the highest scorers will be announced as Green Champions.

Also the organisation with the highest overall score across all UK Green Apple Awards sectors will win a free holiday – a week for two in AquaCity, Slovakia, voted the world’s greenest resort in the World Travel Awards.

Established in 1994, the Green Apple Environmental Awards represent an annual campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.
