i2r launches generic smoothwall container

21 November 2007

The aluminium trays use a thinner gauge aluminium, and have cut-away corners, meaning packers can potentially use a smaller outer sleeve.

Jon West, i2r’s commercial development director, says: “Working in partnership with food manufacturers and retailers, we were aware we needed to maintain a ‘must fit’ principle to the top tray dimensions so that no process, transit or on-shelf changes are required. We’ve managed to retain this while altering the tray’s sides and corners. In addition the cut-away corners provide added strength.”
