Husky creates dedicated medical and specialty packaging business

28 February 2014

Husky Injection Molding Systems has created a new combined business unit dedicated to medical and specialty packaging, following its acquisition of leading medical and closure mould maker Schöttli in Switzerland.

The new business unit will bring together Schöttli technology, the capabilities of Husky’s specialty mould making facilities in Austria and the Czech Republic, aftermarket tooling and services, as well as Husky’s Hylectric system platform.

The new Husky business area will be led by Steve Lawrynuik, formerly vice president customer support, and now vice president medical and packaging systems.

Husky vice president global sales packaging systems, Michael Urquhart, is retiring at the end of February 2014, after 33 years with the company.

“The creation of a dedicated medical and specialty packaging business will allow Husky to provide greater focus on these core markets and offer customers a complete solution, including mould, machine, hot runners, controllers and aftermarket services,” says John Galt, Husky’s president and CEO.
