High performance, hot melt for microwave pack use

14 March 2007

National Adhesives' new Ultra-Melt 85 is a “high performance, cost-effective hot melt adhesive” for case and carton sealing reportedly unique in being suitable for use in microwaveable food packaging.

While it claims traditional hot melts will fail in the microwave, National Adhesive says Ultra-Melt 85 retains stability, thus ensuring pack integrity for ready-meal cartons, both at low/chilled temperatures and in the oven. This “exceptional stability” also enhances performance on the production line, with the adhesive formulation ensuring excellent heat resistance while maintaining fast set speed and good adhesion.

Other claimed benefits include clean running, excellent pot life and viscosity stability, for higher productivity with less downtime and fewer pack rejects.
