Herbert supplies Dawn

Herbert Industrial has supplied a comprehensive package of metal detection, weigh labelling, vision inspection and packaging equipment valued at over £1M for meat processor Dawn Meats' new multi-million 210,000 sq ft beef and pork processing factory in Cross Hands, West Wales.

The £32M plant, believed to be among Europe's most advanced, incorporates separate, dedicated areas for processing and packing both uncooked, fresh meat and "value-added" prepared meals. Purpose-built to serve Asda, it will create 650 jobs and is capable of packing 500 tonnes of meat every week.

Herbert equipment installed includes 10 new MD2600 metal detectors and two moved from the sister plant, Gemini Lightning and Cyclone weigh labelling systems for top, base and flash print and apply labelling, a Dimaco vision inspection system, and Matrix Auto Pack fully automatic robotic packing cells.
