Greiner conquers Mexico

4 January 2011

Austrian producer Greiner Packaging International in December 2010 has set up a business in Mexico - its first company location outside Europe - to gain a foothold in markets in Northern and Latin America.

The Greiner Assistec division in Monterrey, Mexico, occupies rented space of about 2,000m2 with the option to extend the agreement and more than double the production area.

Gerald Bernecker is Managing Director of the new independent subsidiary running state-of-the-art European injection moulding machines.

Greiner Assistec aims to supply global players in the electronics, automotive and household industries and eventually to become established in the Americas in the food and non food sectors. In five years, it expects annual sales in Mexico to amount to more than €10 million.

Willi Eibner, CEO of Greiner adds: “We regard the Monterrey area as platform for other divisions, too. A European management and top motivated and qualified employees from our management pool will ensure that we will be able to apply our recipe for success on the markets in Northern and Latin America as well.”
