Green guidance

2 October 2008

INCPEN, The Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment, and sustainable business experts Envirowise have collaborated on a new design guide to help product and packaging designers, marketing managers and buyers, to improve the sustainability of their packaging, optimise costs and focus on achieving environmental aims.

PackGuide: A Guide to Packaging Eco-Design explains how to minimise the total amount of resources that go into making the packaging, without reducing it to an extent that the contents are spoiled. It explains what needs to be considered to design packaging systems which will optimise the use of materials, energy and water, and minimize waste.

The guide gives practical examples of how to minimise the environmental footprint and optimise costs for delivering products safely from farm or factory to the consumer or other end user.
