A new standard closure for the water market with a lightweight 26mm neck finish from Global Closure Systems is claimed to provide the highest levels of performance and safety to the consumers.
The Gravity II is designed to provide an inter-changeable solution by offering a single thread closure while maintaining the same overall finish dimensions as the three thread 26/22 (GME 30.28) and allowing a simple customer line conversion.
Developed for both flat and carbonated water products, the new closure is also said to be a lightweight finish solution in its own right, with 2.05g against 3.85g for a PCO-1881 finish, and is 45% lighter than a PCO-16 finish.
The Gravity II has been designed to ensure safety for consumers. Following a traditional manual opening performance testing and mechanical simulation of closure opening using industry standard equipment (Opening Performance Tester) under controlled conditions, the closure is said to have displayed excellent safe venting with no blow-off to meet the industry's requirements.
Produced by Obrist Italy, a GCS plant, the Gravity II has already been selected by Refresco and other major companies.
