Gerresheimer is going great

12 February 2008

According to provisional figures, Gerresheimer has just completed another record year. In 2007 the German company achieved sales of €957.7M, up by 48.1 per cent; the adjusted Group EBITDA margin reached 19 per cent.

“This gratifying development completely and fully confirms our strategy,” says ceo Dr Axel Herberg. “With the help of acquisitions we have successfully expanded our global presence and set the course for further growth.”

The group has followed its recent acquisition of leading Spanish supplier of pharmaceutical PET bottles EDP by taking over Allplas Embalagens, of São Paulo, which is said to be the market leader for pharmaceutical plastics packaging in Brazil.

Allplas manufactures high calibre vials and application and closure systems for liquid formulations and solid dosages which complement – and can be combined with - Gerresheimer’s product range. As a result, the group’s existing plastics packaging product portfolio, which has so far been marketed primarily in Europe, will increasingly find its way into the South American pharmaceutical markets.

Both companies will become part of Gerresheimer Plastic Packaging, which specialises in pharmaceutical primary packaging and application systems. Together with the two acquisitions, the group’s plastics operations achieve total annual sales of around €350M, of which around €100M is attributable

to the plastics packaging segment.

Gerresheimer now employs more than 10,800 people in 40 locations in Europe, America and Asia. Worldwide sales for 2007 totalled €957.7M.
