Form-fill-seal poultry pack

2 June 2004

Selo-Bollans can now offer UK poultry suppliers a machine that successfully addresses the supermarkets' increasing requirement that whole bird packs should not leak juices onto shelves or consumers' fingers.

The Merseyside machinery manufacturer and supplier is now selling a horizontal form, fill, seal machine from Japanese company Omori - the S5150A-SBX Superfresh - which it says will produce a pack with a tight PVC stretchwrap-like wrap but with hermetic seals.

The new packaging offers "a similar, high quality finish" to that seen on Selo-Bollans' own barrier shrink MAP packs, while also eliminating the "need to use energy-hungry hot water shrink systems".

The system can handle a full range of tray packing requirements, MAP and laminate film packs, including foil oven trays.
