Food fair to focus on sustainable packaging

19 November 2008

Next year’s Anuga FoodTec food and drink technology show (March 10-13, 2009, in Cologne) will feature a ‘Sustainability’ activity area to be set up in association with German packaging design agency Berndt & Partner Packaging Creality.

The special area will present the different stages of the value chain — from the producers of raw materials through to the consumer — “with the help of striking examples and always focusing on sustainability”. Visitors will also learn more about the effects different packaging concepts, sales channels or even nutritional habits have on CO2 emissions, and which approaches the packaging industry is already pursuing.

In addition, the ‘Conference on sustainable packaging’ will take place on March 12 as part of Anuga FoodTec. Experts will discuss the topic of ‘sustainable packaging solutions’, focusing on political conditions, market development, influencing factors, new options and ecological valuations.

Participation in the conference (www.nova-institut.de) costs €350, including catering and a season ticket to the show.
