Food-contact PET is claimed a UK ‘first’

27 March 2010

Staeger Clear Packaging believes it has become the first UK converter of visual packaging to give the UK market a 100% recycled PET that can be used in direct contact with food.

With the brand name recyClear, it consists of 70% post consumer waste (PCW) and 30% industrial/skeletal waste. It can be printed either silk-screen or litho and is available in 200 to 500 micron material thickness.

A designer and manufacturer of specialist transparent packaging says it has seen turnover more than double in the past five years.

It has spearheaded the use of recycled materials at its Coventry production unit.

On the launch of recyClear, managing director Ian Jamie said: “We are committed to supplying our customers with materials which are environmentally friendly, from certifiable sources. Our ultimate objective is to offer a complete UK based closed loop, in terms of material supply and production.”
