Floral tribute

3 May 2011

A packaging film designed for the flower industry made frpm polylactic acid (PLA) resins by Taghleef Industries was a winner at the inaugural Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Plastics Innovation Awards 2011 in the ‘plastics and environment’ category.

According to Taghleff, the BOPLA film can match conventional films in product presentation and protection and helps cut CO2 emissions.

When composted, the flowers and film help produce a medium for growing new plants, says the company.
