Festo's new free mover

29 May 2003

Festo has ramped up the pace in its pick and place robot portfolio with the introduction of the HSP, which can execute a full cycle in 0.6 seconds.

The HSP is a standard configurable product that can be delivered as a single part number to customer specification.

Its design is said to permit greater freedom of movement.

Unlike most curve-profile, cam-follower style systems, the new handling module is not constructed for rigid movement kinetics. Using a basic profile in the centre section, the side sections can be moved independently, along with the individual strokes of the X-axis.

HSP offers X-axis strokes from 52-170mm and Z-axis strokes from 15-100mm.

It can handle pick and place applications below 100g.

With cycle times between 0.6 and 1 second, it is suited to picking operations with rotary index tables or for sorting tasks in transfer systems.
